Instructional groups are available Monday-Friday after school.
I work on phonemic awareness, decoding, encoding, sight words, comprehension, and writing.
I start with assessments to understand your child's strengths and needs. Your child will be assessed using multiple reading assessments that have been used by professionals in the educational field. These assessments include Fountas & Pinnell Literacy Benchmark System Assessment System 3rd Edition, LETRS Phonics and Word-Reading Survey, and/or Phonological Awareness Screening Test (PAST).
Then they will be placed in a learning group based on the data collected from the assessments. I use a flexible multisensory approach to teach reading and writing. If I find they are not learning, I change the way I teach to best meet their learning style. I combine multiple curriculums and teaching strategies based on the student's needs.
A big part of your child's learning is applying skills and gaining confidence in their abilities. Confidence in reading can foster a love for reading, which is essential for continued growth and progress.
